Sugarless Life – Make it Sweet

Submitted on June 26, 2009 No Comment

Initially, I want you to realize that from the health aspect, there is no requirement of sugar whatsoever. It does not have any vitamins and your body will overlook its absence. In fact, you would be much healthier if your consumption of sugar is reduced. Sugar gets burned by our body to get the required energy, and then only it draws on the fat. In case you consume a lot of sugar, your body never need to burn fat and it gets stored instead. Thus your weight increases. If the consumption of sugar is minimal, the body is induced to burn fat, a giant stride towards resolving your obesity. Although you are not obese, it is recommended to consume healthy foodstuff. When you continue with such a resolve, then the occasional omissions in having sugary items will not endanger you in any way.

A fine substitute to sugar could be using nature’s gift. They may not have much nutritional value, but almost all of them have essential ingredients when compared to sugar. The following three items can be found effortlessly in any superstore around you.

  • Fructose: A derivative of fruit sugar with no nutrients, but initiates only minute blood sugar interruptions compared to simple sugar. It comes in the thickened form and the requirement is only half of the normal sugar.
  • Honey: The glucose content of honey is much more than that of white sugar and as such you need to use only 0.3 to 0.5 % of your normal intake sugar. Only use unrefined natural honey having no additional sugary contents.
  • Maple Syrup: It has two times more calcium than milk. Maple syrup may come adulterated, so try to buy the pure form.

The best alternative is making fruits as par of your food regime. Almost all the fruits are sweet and the requirement of sugar does not arise. Unlike fructose, fruits are full of vitamins, fibre and other elements of nutritional value. When you use an apple or banana to make your oatmeal sweet, you have altered it into a nourishing and wholesome breakfast, and it is sweet, with no sugar. You may consider dry fruits as an alternative, but bear in mind that fructose comes in thickened form implying that your requirement of raisins is fewer than the grapes to achieve the same level of sugariness.
